VWC Quilt Auction

CLOSED

Welcome to VWC's first on-line fundraising auction! In addition to our usual on-site camp raffles, we are reaching out to the broader VWC community for support. This year the auction item is a beautiful quilt donated by Gaiamore, who created it from the first ten years of camp t-shirts that were awarded to Jewels for a donation she made to camp in 2004. The intention woven into the quilt is to honor the beginnings and to bless the continued growth of VWC and the broader Reclaiming community. See pictures and read about the quilt project below.

"Wow! That quilt! Oh, just openned my heart right up! It is beautiful."

Details about the Quilt

The quilt is square, measuring 70"x70" or approximately 6'x6'. It is made from the VWC t-shirts from 1995-2004. I have also included the spiral design with the Charge of the Goddess from Wild Ginger's t-shirt as the center block. This is surrounded with four blocks stenciled with the names of the elements: EARTH, AIR, FIRE, WATER.

The overall placement of the blocks loosely relflects the spiral, starting with the earliest t-shirt design and spiraling out to the 2004 t-shirt design. All images face the center. The blank squares are also cut from the same shirts.

All shirts are 100% cotton. The back is 100% cotton - black. The lining is 100% cotton batting. Thread is cotton, too.

In addition to the fund raising aspect of this project, the intention woven into this quilt is to honor the beginnings of and continuing growth
of VWC and the broader Reclaiming community.

The sewing was mostly done by machine except for a bit of hand sewing around the spirals to bind the spell of the intention.
