A
Structural Outline
Many of the traditions
established by Trillium remain part
of VWC's organizing today: we do our work by consensus; we share
responsibility for the various tasks; all organizers participate
fully in the camp program by doing pathwork, etc; we follow sound
financial practices; we see our work as an act of service to our
community; we try, even in the midst of turmoil, to have fun.
VWC is registered
with the state of Vermont as a non-profit corporation. The Reclaiming
Principles of Unity are filed in the state records
(yes!). Our purpose is "to produce at least one Reclaiming
style witch camp per year for the purposes of education and support
of the belief that the earth is alive and all of life is sacred
and interconnected, and to produce other related events as the opportunity
arises to further the purposes of the organization."
Organizers are
"self-selected individuals who support the Reclaiming
Principles of Unity, have attended camp or participated
with a camp affiliated circle, and who consistently participate
in camp organizing cell meetings. No organizer shall miss more than
three consecutive meetings in a fiscal year and continue to be considered
an organizer, without the consensus of the organizing cell."
Our camp Organizing Cell is equivalent to a board of directors.
It can be made up of from between 5 to 30 members. We need one third
of the organizers to make up a quorum.
In the past, the
Org Cell met face to face several times a year, usually in Vermont.
This year, however, we have made a big change and are working virtually,
using the technology available to us to bring together a committed
team reaching from Montreal and Toronto, Canada to Western New York,
Massachusetts, and New Hampshire as well as Vermont. It makes the
overall decisions regarding the philosophy, practices and policies
of VWC. By law we have 4 registered officers. They are currently:
President-
Vice-President-
Treasurer-
Secretary-
The Org Cell creates
structural workgroups to accomplish the work. this year these groups
are; Finance/Scholarship/Work
Exchange/Canadian Exchange, Communication,
At-Camp, Teacher
Selection, Childrens
Programming and Coordinating.
There
is also a Reclaiming witch camp coordinating body that we belong
to:
Witch
Camp Council has an organizer and teacher representative from each
of the Reclaiming camps. They gather once face to face in the Fall
and have an on-line meeting in the Winter. Their task is to discuss
Reclaiming camp wide issues and offer suggestions on how we can
best communicate and cooperate as a whole. Our current representatives
are Rosemary as organizer spoke and Laura Maples as teacher spoke.
