Our Hosts

Vermont Witch Camp has been held at a Quaker-owned and operated campsite known as Farm & Wilderness for the past 13 years. The land is beautiful, rustic, hilly and magical. We live in close contact with all of the elements; here we are fed, inspired and changed by the place itself. The staff of this community are a vital part of our community at Vermont Witch Camp.

The land we are on is maintained by people who are guided by the Quaker belief that the Light of the Spirit is present in every person and in the belief that people working together can create a more just and humane society. Aside from being our host,Farm & Wilderness provides year-round experiences for youth and adults that emphasize the building of community through the values of cooperation, simplicity, responsibility, empathy, spirituality and service.

Each summer, aside from hosting Vermont Witch Camp, this community runs summer camps that enable people to learn skills for outdoor living; gain an appreciation for their connection with the natural world; increase self-confidence; practice non-violence in relationships; experience the joys, challenges and strengths of participation in a multicultural community; enjoy the satisfaction and fun of physical work with others and grow in the awareness of oneself as a spiritual person.

We are visitors in their community and we need to abide by the rules and values of this community which welcomes us so warmly year after year.

The following guidelines are what we are asked to honor and respect during stay:

  • No tobacco, drugs, alcohol or firearms allowed
  • No open flame inside any of the buildings
  • There are community tasks that are an integral part of this week such as meal setup, preparation, and cleanup as well as camp cleanup on the final day
  • There are no pets allowed!
  • Please obey the lifeguard and waterfront rules - no swimming or canoeing alone!
