"Radical
Interconnectedness for the good of all life and Earth "
This summer
we come together to respond with deep, deep caring for the
Earth and all her creatures. At VWC 2007 we offer our individual
passions for all of life, to unite collectively and do magickal
work. We will gracefully weave our magickal intention throughout
the week: to have meaningful and lasting impact in the positive
and constructive direction of this planet. Together we are
much, much greater than we are individually

The
Story
|
 |
The flickering
light from the campfire casts its glow on the upturned faces.
A voice intones the magical words, Once upon a time
and the power of a folk tale begins to irresistibly draw those
gathered under its spell.
VWC has
chosen two stories from two very different traditions to frame
our week of magic together. The Bremen Town Musicians
comes from the brothers Grimm out of a rural
|
| northern
European setting. Its a familiar and deceptively simple
tale told by farm animals who choose to seek out new lives when
their old ones are threatened. They must confront not only their
own fears and hesitations, but also robbers who have stolen
societys treasures and are holed up in secret in the forest.
What strengths and skills can they draw upon to face their challenges
and achieve their dreams of a new life? |
The Shambhala Prophecy is an 8th century Buddhist legend
that tells of a time when all sentient life hangs by a thread,
threatened by great warring powers. Just when all seems
lost the kingdom of Shambhala emerges. It is not a physical
place you can go to, but exists in the hearts and minds
of the Shambhala warriors, those who choose to struggle
for a new way of living, a new understanding of the gifts
needed to heal a damaged world.

We
have all faced personal challenges in our lives, times when we needed
to take a new path, discover a new way of confronting those challenges.
And now in our hearts we know our world is facing something similar.
We are surrounded by warring powers, a changing climate, and the
knowledge that many beloved peoples, places and animals are seriously
threatened. How will we face these challenges?
What can we learn from a simple folk tale and an ancient prophecy,
from the Bremen musicians and the Shambhala warriors? What magical
teachings do they offer us in this time of personal and community
challenge?
We know that music, laughter, sharing, listening, learning and healing
are enriched and enhanced when we experience them together in magical
space. Challenges can be met with humor, creativity, insight and
compassion. We can dare to dwell together in beauty, balance and
delight.
Come join us around the campfire this summer as we explore the challenges
of making magic and music together, weaving the wisdom of two very
different traditions into a rich and complex tapestry.
